Post-Ski Smoothie By Jimmy Chin
Mountaineer and Filmmaker Jimmy Chin
THE CHEF
Jimmy Chin is one of the world's most accomplished adventure and climbing photographers, and a true renaissance man of modern adventure. His extensive career as an alpinist and ski mountaineer includes being on the first American team to ski from Everest and a first ascent of the legendary Shark’s Fin in the Garwhal Himalayas
His photography has graced the covers of magazines including National Geographic and The New York Times Magazine, and his latest film, Free Solo, just won the Academy Award for Best Documentary.
As you can imagine, Jimmy’s schedule is a whirlwind of filmmaking, shooting, climbing and family, so training and recovery need to remain as efficient as possible. He recently shared with us what his favorite smoothie recipe is after a hard day of training or a long day in the mountains.
USAGE
A long day in the mountains will leave your muscles depleted of their glycolytic stores. The road to recovery requires a combination of high quality protein and simple carbohydrates for lean muscle repair and glycogen synthesis. Jimmy’s recipe helps jump start this process immediately.
There’s so much strength in vulnerability. You have to be okay with, ‘I'm not okay.’ You have to be okay with, ‘I'm not perfect.’ People trusted that first, and then they trusted the man and that what I was telling them to do would help them. You can’t provoke change without trust.
